Natural Gas Pipeline Replacement Project at Wright-Patterson Air

Natural Gas Pipeline Replacement Project at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) announces the intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the 20" Z50 Pipeline Replacement Memorial Station to SR 4 Project. The Project is approximately 1.2 miles in length and begins on WPAFB property to the east and extends west beneath the Mad River, railroad tracks, Springfield Street, and State Route 4. Approximately 2,508 linear feet of the project is located on WPAFB property as well as a metering and regulating station. No loss of the 100-year floodplain is proposed. Approximately 0.08 acre of wetland will be temporarily impacted as part of the Project. The Project has been coordinated with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District and a permit to temporarily impact this wetland has been issued. The Proposed Action is subject to the requirements and objectives of Executive Order (EO) 11988, Floodplain Management, as amended. In accordance with EO11990, the Air Force invites the public to provide comments on the proposal and any practicable alternatives that may reduce these impacts. The project involves the following actions: retrofit an existing pipeline 16" pipe with a larger 20" pipe to allow inspection by modern in-line inspection tools (ILITs); and construction of an ILIT launcher/receiver located on the north side of State Route 4. Comments should be sent to 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office, 5135 Pearson Road, Building 10, Room 253A, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio 45433 or emailed to 88abw.pa@us.af.mil.
