Public Notice Proposed Plan and Public Meeting Operable Unit 1 (OU-1) Record of Decision (ROD) Amendment Mound, Ohio, Site, Miamisburg, OH The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Legacy Management (LM) in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Ohio EPA is offering the Proposed Plan for Amendment of the Operable Unit 1 Record of Decision (Parcel 9) for the Mound, Ohio, Site in Miamisburg, Ohio, for public review and comment. This Proposed Plan provides rationale for selection of the preferred remedial alternative for the OU-1/Parcel 9 area and proposes to: Modify the original 1995 OU-1 groundwater remedy from pump and treatment (P&T) to enhanced attenuation (EA) Add vapor intrusion (VI) mitigation requirements for future buildings in the OU-1/Parcel 9 area. LM, in consultation with EPA and Ohio EPA, will select a final remedy after reviewing and considering all information submitted during the public comment period. LM is issuing the Proposed Plan as part of its public participation responsibilities under Section 117(a) of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA). The formal comment period for the Proposed Plan will begin November 23, 2022, and end December 23, 2022. LM will host a public meeting in person and will also provide a virtual option to discuss the OU-1 Proposed Plan.
