Public Notice of Significant Industrial User Pollution Violations

PUBLIC NOTICE OF SIGNIFICANT INDUSTRIAL USER POLLUTION VIOLATIONS The following is a list of significant industrial users of the City's wastewater collection system which have been found in Significant Non-Compliance with respect to provisions of the Federal Clean Water Act and regulations found in Chapter 916 of the Codified Ordinances of the City Of Springfield during the year 2023: Industry Name: Pratt Industries Address: 1515 Baker Road Springfield, Ohio 45504 Violation: Pratt Industries exceeded the Daily Limit and the Technical Review Criteria Limit for Non-Polar Oil and Grease per the facility's Local Discharge Permit during the third and fourth quarters of 2023. Action Taken: Pratt Industries was issued a Notice of Violation. Result: The City continues to work with Pratt Industries to confirm a return to compliance. Pratt Industries has identified the cause of the violations and repairs are underway. Industry Name: Reiter Dairy, (Owned by DFA Dairy Brands) Address: 1961 Commerce Circle Springfield, Ohio 45504 Violation: Reiter Dairy exceeded the Daily Limit and the Technical Review Criteria Limit for Non-Polar Oil and Grease per the facility's Local Discharge Permit during the third quarter of 2023. Reiter Dairy also exceeded the Technical Review Criteria Limit for Polar Oil and Grease per the facility's Local Discharge Permit during the fourth quarter of 2023. Action Taken: Reiter Dairy was issued a Notice of Violation. Result: The City continues to work with Reiter Dairy to confirm a return to compliance. Reiter Dairy has identified the cause of the violations. Industry Name: Teikuro Corporation Address: 4500 Gateway Boulevard Springfield, Ohio 45502 Violation: Teikuro Corporation exceeded the Monthly Technical Review Criteria Limit for Total Chromium per the facility's Local Discharge Permit and 40 CFR Part 433.17 during the second quarter of 2023. Teikuro Corporation also exceeded the Monthly Limit and the Monthly Technical Review Criteria Limit for Total Chromium per the facility's Local Discharge Permit and 40 CFR Part 433.17 during the fourth quarter of 2023. Action Taken: Teikuro Corporation was issued a Notice of Violation. Result: The City continues to partner with the Teikuro Corporation to finalize a return to compliance. Industry Name: Woeber Mustard Manufacturing Company Address: 1966 Commerce Drive Springfield, Ohio 45504 Violation: Woeber Mustard Manufacturing Company exceeded the Technical Review Criteria Limit for Non-Polar Oil and Grease per the facility's Local Discharge Permit during the third and fourth quarters of 2023. Action Taken: Woeber Mustard Manufacturing Company was issued a Notice of Violation. Result: Woeber Mustard Manufacturing Company has installed a grease interceptor at the Commerce Drive location.
