The following Charter amendments have been filed with the Board of Elections and are being placed on the May 5, 2026 ballot. PUBLIC NOTICE Electors of the City of New Carlisle should take notice that the following proposed changes to the Charter of the City of New Carlisle will be on the May 5, 2026 ballot: ORDINANCE 2026-02 PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT City of New Carlisle A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage. Shall Proposed Charter Amendment - Article VIII, Section 8.01, 8.02, 8.03, and 8.05 of the Charter of the City of New Carlisle be amended as follows: Article VIII Planning (Summary) Remove the reference to Section 6.01 of the Charter regarding the appointment of the Planning Director. Add that Members of the Planning Board should possess the education and experience necessary to ensure that the Board satisfactorily fulfills its responsibilities. Add that Council shall review the comprehensive plan as needed, and at least once every ten years. Specify that members of the Board of Appeals may hold no other City office, except as otherwise provided in division (d) of Section 8.05 of the Charter.
